For the first time, in history, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Army personnel, Civil servants, business Heads, Actors, Farmers, Blue Collar Workers, Beggars, the poor - you name any job, profession, leader or country, all have gone in self-isolation. Can their coming on the same platform simultaneously, even though for only a few months, help perceive the problems better now? All our superheroes, Superman, Spiderman, Shaktiman, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Batman, the Hulk, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Harry Potter, Hermione, Ginny, Ron, Motu-Patlu, Chota Bheem, Viram-Betal, Bahadur-Bela, Mandrek-Lothar, Chacha Chaudhury – Saboo, Phantom and many more are in self-imposed quarantine! Wow, what a turn of the new decade 2020!As for Bihar’s own superman are concerned, do we have any? Well, none probably. The reason is the type of enemy which this superman, had he existed, would have to face; Bihar’s Poverty Virus for which none of the superheroes have found any antibody yet. This antibody is within the people of the state themselves, and it is they who have to face this enemy and come out with their own self-generated antibodies. Let us first see what are the viruses affecting Bihar’s economy in general.1. Flood and scarcity of rainfall, both existing simultaneously 2. Casteism that exists in the DNA of the people3. No work culture among babu’s and acute corruption4. Naxalism – ST related formation5. Law & Order and related Pan-India Image / Stereotype6. M-Y / Dalit-Maha Dalit / OBC –MBE / General Castes / Bhumiyar / Rajput/ Brahman / Vaishyas / Kayastha / Kurmi /Koeri formations7. Legacy of the Zamindari system leftover8. Negligible business houses9. Poor Education System10. Credit–Deposit Ratio 11. Negligible Banking System12. Zero Bihari Sub Nationalism13. No Ports14. Huge masses of moving Migrant population15. Negligible Urbanization16. Job creation does not match population 17. A Bihari’s aspiration vs All India Aspiration – a huge gap18. Govt Structure: More for maintaining status quo rather than development and poverty alleviation 19. Industrialization of united Bihar was done with no Infrastructure development; it was done with an aim to milk the mines and resources. So as soon as the technology changed, the industry collapsed20. None of the Intellectuals and the Educated Biharis return to Bihar or buy a house etc. in the state even for investment purpose and connectivity21. Rail, Roads, Power Plants, Airports and Storages were heavily compromised even till 202022. Failure of Land Reforms due to poor idea at the very outset with no understanding of the local sentiment; a utopian thinking introduced with no support and execution system built23. Technology and a Bihari, in any walk of life, are light-years away24. No Institute of repute was built for a State whose current population is 1/3rd of the USA and almost equal to that of Bangladesh and Pakistan when Jharkhand was part of it. A state with fifty-four MPs got nothing even with so much political clout in independent India25. Just no idea of building institution, be it for tourism, science, civil services, security, and army types NDA even though it is strategically located, having Nepal, Chicken Neck, Bangladesh, Burma and the entire NE to keep a check on the safety of India which is so necessary in order to maintain the Idea of Bharat intact26. The political system of every Indian state evolved with new set of players. In Bihar a 45 years was shared by just 3 CM’s!27. China had taken so much knowledge in ancient and medieval times from Bihar and built their own knowledge repository with some local customization.
