The COVID-19 pandemic outbreak began around November 2019 in the Wuhan province of China, from whereon it began its spread to several other parts of the globe. India reported its first novel coronavirus case in late January 2020. By March, the pandemic had begun to wreak havoc in countries such as China, Italy, Spain, Germany, UK, US and Iran. While China claims to have controlled the outbreak over time and reports all its daily life work going on as routine and normal, India saw surge in coronavirus cases March onwards, so much so that nationwide lockdown had to be announced towards the end of March. The way PM Narendra Modi appealed to all the people of India to follow a Janata Curfew live over TV broadcast and referred to the point that a long battle against the pandemic had begun, spoke volumes about the gravity of the situation.
